The official photo shoot and filming of The Patrick Matthew Violin took place in glorious sunshine on the morning of May 21 2024 at Megginch Castle.
The violin is made from an ancient apple tree that fell in the orchard of Megginch Castle.
Dr Mike Sutton (owner of the violin) was there with its master violin maker Steve Burnett of Edinburgh, profession violinist and famous TV and film actor Thoren Ferguson who played the violin, top Press Association photographer Jane Barlow (the last person to photograph the Queen) and Hon. Catherine Drummond Herdman of Megginch Castle.

The back of this fabulous master violin is made of 150+ year old Scottish apple wood, as are the sides (bouts) pegs, tailpiece and the end pin. The table (face) of the violin is made of top grade fine Dolomites spruce.
