Scotland: This Is Your Fight! End Darwin's 155 Years of Punterization of All Our People.

One day, Scotland will have Patrick Matthew on the back of it's £10 note.

Not for nothing was the great Maya Angelou at the front of the audience listening to Dick Gaughan.

So as not to face their significance, people may not fully engaged with dreadful facts. The range of denial devices used by those in a ‘state of denial’ include what Cohen (2001) terms 'canny unresponsiveness', ‘psychotic negation of manifest facts’, ‘lying to convince your listeners and reinforce your own denial of the real facts’, ‘negation by wishful-thinking’ ‘evasive reassurance that the facts are not that serious’, ‘victim blaming for their predicament’, ‘withdrawal of attention – deflecting the gaze’ and ‘compartmentalization’. These various manifestations of denial relieve the recipients of dreadful facts from immediate anxiety but, paradoxically, denial’s comforts create long-term dangers, against which we must remain alert.

The world's leading evolutionary biologists admit that Matthew was first to publish the full hypothesis of macro evolution by natural selection. But scant attention has been paid to how Matthew's right to be considered an immortal great thinker and influencer in science was stolen from him by the lies, fallacies and poor scholarship of Darwin and his Darwinists. Here is a list of just some of the tactics they employed:

1. Darwin's and Wallace's friend, John Lindley's (1853) Matthew glory stealing giant redwood seeds bogus priority claiming fallacy.

2. Wallace's replicating plagiarism of Matthew's original conception and unique explanatory examples in his 1855 and 1858 papers.

3. Darwin's (1858 and 1859) plagiarism and his Gardener's Chronicle (1860) and Origin of Species (1861) glory theft lies.

4. Darwin's friend, Professor David Anstead - or at the very least his anonymous editor weirdly added footnotes on his article - mockingly rubbishing Matthew in the Dublin University Magazine (January to June in 1860) effectively writing that he was an over opinionated crank who had written nothing original. The footnote can be read here. The Saturday Analyst and Leader (1860) then did the same thing.

5. In a gushing review of Darwin's Origin of Species. Charles Dickens's Magazine 'All the Year Round' (1860) quoted a paragraph of Matthew's (1831) original prose yet never cited Matthew as its source. The uncited quote is to be found here.

6. The Dundee platform blocking of Matthew at the 1867 meeting of the British Association for Advancement of Science.

7. Royal Society Darwin Medal winners Ernst Mayr's and Sir Gavin de Beer's published glory stealing fallacies that the original ideas in Matthew's book went completely unread/unread by any biologists - before Matthew brought them to Darwin's attention in 1860.

8. Richard Dawkins's pseudo-scholarly history and context free typical "state of denial" victim blaming of Matthew for what Darwin and his adoring Darwinists did to him.

DARWINIST DYSOLOGY

In addition to confirming the importance of understanding repeat victimization, their 100 per cent proven Darwinist fallacy spreading and dreadful pseudo-scholarly treatment of the facts confirms that the Dysology Hypothesis explains the Darwin Worship Industry's biased history of the discovery of natural selection:

'Letting scholars get away with publishing fallacies and myths signals to others the existence of topics where guardians of good scholarship might be less capable than elsewhere. Such dysology then serves as an allurement to poor scholars to disseminate existing myths and fallacies and to create and publish their own in these topic areas, which leads to a downward spiral of diminishing veracity on particular topics.'

A Criminological Comparison

The following comparison may appear odd, but I would argue no more odd than the similar ways experts in completely different areas can be so wrong about the subject of their claimed expertise in the most dissimilar of cases.

The Metropolitan Police Service officers who bungled the Colin Stagg Case, and top academic Darwinists who have bungled the history of discovery of natural selection have several key characteristics in common:
(1) Breathtaking incompetence
(2) Blinkered decision making
(3) Wholesale failure to follow evidence
(4) Justifying victimization by targeted injustice through a media process of what we might call: "obscure person weirdofication".

All four characteristics are evidenced in the materials provided about the story of Matthew Darwin and Wallace and the discovery of natural selection by clicking the supporting links to the eight numbered examples above.

Furthermore, in relation to characteristic 4, an expert psychologist and the Metropolitan Police used the media to portray Colin Stagg as an obscure personality disordered virgin loner who fits the profile of a rapist and murderer. As it turns out, he has never raped or murdered anyone in his life. Similarly, Darwin (from the 1861 third edition of the Origin of Species onward) and his Darwinists - in the press and Darwinist literature - portrayed Matthew as an obscure writer (a naturalist loner) with a delusional superiority complex who weirdly believed in meteorological catastrophic extinction events. As it turns out, Matthew was far from being an obscure writer (See Weale), Darwin's and Wallace's friend John Lindley perpetrated a proven great myth creation to rob Matthew of the fame and glory of being attributed with being first to introduce giant redwood trees into Britain, and Matthew is today proven correct by facts - as explained first by Dempster - (see also Rapino) and Darwin wrong, because meteorological extinction events most certainly happened.

The Metropolitan police finally apologised to Colin Stagg.

Darwinists have yet to apologise for Darwin and for their own poor scholarship in punterizing us all about Patrick Matthew.

Muddle-headed biased police officers took quite a while to realise they were totally wrong about Colin Stagg. We should perhaps not feel too surprised therefore that their counterparts in the Darwin worship industry are similarly slow on the uptake of new and independently verifiable disconfiriming evidence for their own credulous and biased beliefs.

Many were convinced of Colin Stagg's guilt for a mere month or two. But "scientific" belief in the supernatural miracle of Darwin's and Wallace's dual immaculate conceptions of Matthew's prior published original hypothesis of natural selection - whilst surrounded and influenced by those who read it before they replicated it without citing Matthew, and then excused that behaviour by 100 per cent proven lying that none had read Matthew's original ideas before they replicated them - is over a century and a half old. And, amongst others who have been spreading the myth of Darwin, Wallace and Matthew, the Royal Society has been happily awarding Darwin medals to those who gladly parrot its namesake's proven, self-serving, glory stealing, lies as the gospel truth about Matthew.

Were they to see and admit to the truth about the obvious and significant newly discovered facts in their field, Darwinists have far more than the the Metropolitan Police Service ever had to lose for doing so in theirs. This is because Darwinisits have a proud 155 year old tradition of credulous pseudo-scholarly Darwin worship and prolific output in "scholarly" publications on the topic. Consequently, we should perhaps expect it to take several years, therefore, for the new evidence to sink into the brains of Darwin scholars.

Who knows, it may never sink in. Perhaps they will simply form the Church of the Immaculate Conception of a Prior Published Theory?

Natural Selection and the Aristocracy: Evidence Hooker and Darwin would have Despised Matthew's Sedition on the Topic

The Aristocrat Admiral Fitzroy -
Captain of the HMS Beagle
1831  - as I explain in my 2014 book Nullius in Verba    - was a time of great social violence and uncertainty. Britain was in the shadow of the French Revolution and feared a similar uprising from the lower classes. Riots were breaking out all over the country. Richard Dawkins's (2010) ludicrous claim that Matthew (1831) should have, in the first half of the 19th-century, trumpeted the heretical and seditious original ideas on natural selection in his book from the rooftops, in order to deserve to be rightfully recognized for them over Darwin's replication of the same, is laughable in light of the historical facts - not least the fact that Matthew (in 1860) informed Darwin and others in published print of a naturalist who feared to so much as quietly teach the original ideas on natural selection in Matthew's book  for fear of pillory punishment.

The problem for veracity in the history of discovery of natural selection is that powerful members of the Darwin-worship-cult operate from a position of preferred bias. We see just one example of this in Dawkins's conveniently context-free wishful thinking, dressed up with self-delighted deliberate delusion, and then spin-presented as fact for hungry consumption by those credulous enough to take him at his carefully crafted 'expert' word.

In this blog post, I reveal why it would be that Joseph Hooker and Charles Darwin would have despised Patrick Matthew for going into print linking natural selection to his libertarian chartist reform politics, not just because it was against the codes of 19th century gentlemen of science to link politics with science (see Secord 2001) but also because they disagreed with his politics and his socio-political ideas.

In 1831, in On Naval Timber and Arboriculture, Matthew explained how in peaceful as opposed to times of war the cultural legal inheritance system and and social class system was unnaturally ensuring that the 'best' human 'stock' was unable to attain a dominant power of occupancy in human society - as they would in a state of culture-free nature - that would ensure those with  'superior' mental and physical characteristics bred most efficiently and effectively to improve human 'stock'.

On Naval Timber and Arboriculture
 by Patrick Matthew
1831
In the following texts from pages 2 to 4 of his 1831 book it is important to note how at the bottom of each  of the pages Matthew refers the reader to the book's Appendix - which contained his ideas on natural selection in a far more concentrated style of writing for humans and for all species of animal and plant.

So much here then for the great Darwinist myth started by Darwin in 1860 as a lie    that Matthew buried his important ideas on natural selection in the book's appendix!

Royal Society Darwin Medal Winner, Ernst Mayr, published the myth - discoverable as such at the time    - that Matthew's (1831) unique ideas were completely unread by biologists pre-1858. Moreover, he also published another myth that the information in the Appendix of Matthew's book was unrelated tot he subject of its title: Naval Timber and Arboriculture.
(Mayr 1982 p.499):
'The person who has the soundest claim for priority in establishing a theory or evolution by natural selection is Patrick Matthew (1790-1874). He was a wealthy landowner in Scotland, very well read and well travelled... His views on evolution and natural selection were published in a number of notes in an appendix to his work On Naval Timber and Arboriculture (1831). These notes have virtually no relation to the subject matter of the book, and it is therefore not surprising that neither Darwin nor any other biologist had ever encountered them until Matthew brought forward his claims in an article in 1860 in the Gardener's Chronicle.'
In Matthew's text, we see also that far from a book on Naval Timber being inappropriate for its subject matter on natural selection it was the perfect subject matter in relation to humans - ships being made of timber at the time and ships being essential for Britain's trade, maintenance of its huge empire and for conquest and settlement. Without these aggressive and competitive activities Matthew saw that the aristocracy would degenerate and that most of the most able beings among the lower classes would be kept down in a permanently artificial state of brutal and unfulfilled toil.
It is no coincidence that Matthew took his original ideas forward in his second book (Matthew 1839) 'Emigration Fields' where he (scandalously for the time) recommended British settlers intermix with the New Zealand Maori.

So much here, also then, for the Darwinist myth that Matthew failed to take his original ideas on natural selection forward after 1831!

In addition to his out-group status among the gentlemen of science, Matthew did himself no favors among the English by inventing hilarious mock-varietal terms like "the English
Patrick Matthew
Clown."

Matthew turned upon the gentry and middle classes. He saw them in a bio-political light and employed natural selection arguments against the artificial selection of hereditary entitlement on grounds that it served to synthetically block the contribution to society of potentially better people trapped in lower social classes .

Matthew (1831, p. 365) wrote :

"The law of entail, necessary to hereditary nobility, is an outrage on this law of nature which she will no pass unavenged—a law which has the most debasing influence upon the energies of a people, and will sooner or later lead to general subversion…"

And (p. 390):

"…the great mass of the present population requiring no guidance from a particular class of feudal lords, will not continue to tolerate any hereditary claims of authority of one portion of the population over their fellow-men; nor any laws to keep up rank and wealth corresponding to this exclusive power. It would be wisdom in the noblesse of Europe to abolish every claim or law which serves to point them out a separate class, and, as quickly as possible, to merge themselves into the mass of the population. It is a law manifest in nature, that when the use of any thing is past, its existence is no longer kept up."

In 1861, after Matthew had confronted Darwin in order to claim priority for his ideas, which Darwin claimed not to have read - despite the fact it is newly discovered (Sutton 2014) Darwin's, his father's Hookers, Jenyns, Lyell's and Wallace's associates, friends and influencers had read and cited them. Moreover, it is 100 per cent proven that Darwin lied when he later wrote that no naturalist had read Matthew's original ideas before he replicated them.

In 1862, Darwin and his best friend Joseph Hooker corresponded on the topic of natural selection and the British aristocracy

Joseph Hooker
Although no mention of Matthew is made, in this exchange of letters we can see that Hooker was adamantly opposed to Matthew's arguments.

Letter from Hooker to Darwin 31 Jan – 8 Feb 1862

'I wrote you a frightful screed the other day about the development of an Aristocracy being the necessary consequence of Natural Selection—& then burnt it—so you must take the will for the deed & be thankful! If ever we meet again we will talk it over—'

Letter from Hooker to Darwin 19th Jan (1862)

'...after all why should we expect better things from a nation of upstarts— Our Aristocracy may have been (& has been) a great draw back to civilization—but on the other hand it has had its advantages—has kept in check the uneducated & unreflecting—& has forced those who have intellect enough to rise to their own level, to use it all in the struggle— There is a deal in breeding & I do not think that any but high bred gentlemen are safe guides in Emergencies such as these.'

And

If there is any thing at all in force of circumstances & Natural Selection it must arrive that the best trained, bred & ablest man will be found in the higher walks of life—true he will be rare, but then he will be obvious & easily selected by a discriminating public— When got to, he is removed above a multitude of temptations & conditions that prove the ruin of 910 of the rising statesmen of a lower class of life— Your ``Origin'' has done more to enhance the value of the aristocracy in my eyes than any social political or other argument.

Letter of reply from Darwin to Hooker (25th Jan 1862)

In this letter we see that Darwin in part agrees with Hooker, but is in a state of denial over
Charles Darwin
meritocracy and gets it right on the notion of primogeniture being anti-natural slection (which is a Matthew notion from 1831) .

'Your notion of the aristocrats being ken-speckle,  & the best men of a good lot being thus easily selected is new to me & striking. The Origin having made you, in fact, a jolly old Tory, made us all laugh heartily. I have sometimes speculated on this subject: primogeniture is dreadfully opposed to selection,—suppose the first-born Bull was necessarily made by each farmer the begetter of his stock! On other hand, as you say, ablest men are continually raised to peerage & get crossed with the older Lord-breeds—& the Lords continually select the most beautiful & charming women out of the lower ranks; so that a good deal of indirect selection improves the Lords. Certainly I agree with you, the present American row has a very toryfying influence on us all.—'

Conclusion

Here then we see why Darwin's best friend Joseph Hooker had every reason to wish to see Matthew's book buried in oblivion. This would explain why in 1860 he knowingly countersigned Darwin's letter  of reply to Matthew's claim to priority in the Gardener's Chronicle in order to validate Darwin's lie that no naturalist had read Matthew's book pre-1858 - when he - like Darwin - knew that the famous naturalist John Loudon had reviewed it.

Hooker, like Darwin, feared that Britain might become what he called "...a nation of upstarts...".

Matthew knew that leaders come naturally from 'upstart stock' and, therefore, in the greater interests of of our species, should not be artificially kept down.

No wonder the powerful scientific elite and their toadying opportunity-sniffing minions have sought to keep Matthew buried in oblivion these past 185 years.

Patrick Matthew and the Earl of Mansfield

image
Trumpet from the Palace rooftops!Public Domain
Dido Bell, mixed heritage niece of the 1st Earl of Mansfield. This picture now hangs in Scone Palace. Patrick Matthew was born on a farm in what are now the extended Palace gardens - following the plans of John Loudon - who reviewed Matthew's book in 1832 - noting its possible originality on "the origin of species' no less.

Patrick Matthew: The Biological Father of the Theory of Natural Selection
When Patrick Matthew was a boy, the Matthew family lived on a farm called Rome in the grounds of the ancient and famous Scone Palace   , which once held the famous "Stone of Destiny   " in the nearby "Hole of Scone".
Matthew was born three years before the death of William Murray (Lord Mansfield), the 1st Earl of Mansfield (2 March 1705 – 20 March 1793), who was educated at Perth Grammar School before moving to London aged 13 to attend Westminster School.
Murray was born in Scone Palace. He is famous as the Lord Chief Justice who passed some landmark judgements    that led to the reform of the law to enable the abolition of slavery. The film "Belle"    depicts that part of his story with some degree of artisitic licence. The picture of his mixed heritage niece, Dido Elizabeth Bell,- Britain's first Black aristocrat, who was the illegitimate, yet recognized, daughter of an Admiral of the Royal Navy, hangs today in Scone Palace. The painting is remarkable because it defied racist conventions of the day - Dido being positively depicted as the equal of her white relative.

The site of Rome Farm is now the parklands of Scone Palace - from where the English famously stole the Stone of Scone.
Notably, Matthew was very much against slavery and condemned it in his bookOn Naval Timber and Arboriculture (1831)   . Two years before the British Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 he wrote for reform   . Perhaps such an act would not have endeared his book to Darwin's best friends William and Joseph Hooker of Kew, since both were salaried by the rapacious East India Company, which was allowed to continue to profit through slavery until 1843 (see Sutton 2014   ).

Nullius in Verba
Matthew's father and uncles subscribed to a critical publication on "The Errors of Thomas Pain" (Robert Thomas 1797   ). Matthew was just seven years old at the time (Sutton 2014   ), but the presence and discussion of such literature in the family no doubt played a large part in shaping his radical politics   that would one day lead him to be a Scottish regional representative of the Chartists - so famously despised by the wealthy Charles Darwin and his landed gentry cronies.( See Nullius in Verba: Darwin's greatest secret    for the detailed facts.)
The critical work on the ideas of Pain was dedicated to the author's patron - The Earl of Mansfield - who was, presumably, either the 1st, 2nd or even the 3rd Earl; since by 1797 the 1st Earl had been two years dead and his nephew, the 2nd Earl of Mansfield (9 October 1727 – 1 September 1796) was also known as Viscount Stormont died the year before. The 3rd Earl of Mansfield was born on 7 March 1777 and died 18 February 1840.
This information is taken from the "social circles" page of my website Patrickmatthew.com
The story of Dido has it that she was loved by the Murray family, but that at formal dinners she was kept away so as not to offend the guests. The painting appears to me to depict Dido attempting to leave the portrait by getting up from the wooden bench. Her finger held to her cheek reveals her thoughts that perhaps it is unseemly yet rightly mischievous for her to be painted as a social equal. Almost as though it were a photographic snapshot, her white relative - and close childhood companion - holds her back to keep her honorably in the social and family frame. Or else, she is pushing her away. The artist is teasing us.

Darwin Defender Stephen J Gould's Desperate Pseudoscholarly Fact Filtering and Cherry Picking

Kindle Notes from Nullius (1)

Loren Eiseley (1979) was quite reasonably convinced that Charles Darwin had plagiarized Patrick Matthew's (1831) discovery that artificial selection is the key to understanding natural selection, which I have named "The Artificial versus Natural Selection Explanatory Analogy of Differences". (First recognised as an analogy by W. J. Dempster 1996, p. 85).
In Desperate Defense of his Namesake, "Darwin", Famous Leading Darwinist Stephen J, Gould Set Out on a Crusade to "Rubbish" Eiseley's Findings
Most notably, Eiseley's particular piece of compelling evidence was never addressed by the famous Darwinist Gould    (1983, 2002), who selectively criticized Eiseley's other evidence of Darwin's plagiarism of Edward Blyth, who - my blog post yesterday explained - cited many times the fact that he was influenced by Robert Mudie - who I discovered in 2014 (see Nullius) was first to replicate in 1832 (1) Matthew's unique term "rectangular branching" and (2) his unique and most powerful explanatory analogy.
Such selective omission lays Gould wide open to accusations of one-sided pseudo-scholarship.
Gould's biased omission is important because ID uniquely reveals that both Low (1844) and Darwin (1844 and 1859) replicated Matthew's (1831) use of this key example, Darwin did so in his private and unpublished 1844 essay - using the exact same examples, and later in theOrigin of Species (1859) - using different examples, without citing Matthew (1831), or Low (1844).

Bulloney
Steven J Gould (2002) claimed also that: "Natural selection ranked as a standard item in biological discourse." The implication being that it can't have been coined by way of influence from Matthew's unique term "natural process of selection."
Despite providing zero evidence to support it, Gould's winning argument has been innocently accepted by credulously biased Darwinist schnooks as proof that Eiseley was naively mistaken in thinking "natural selection" was a rare term.
In fact, the BigData facilitated ID research method proves Gould was absolutely wrong. Gould was "bulls**tting" in the philosophical sense generally described by Frankfurt (2005)   . Because In his attempt to keep Matthew buried in oblivion with one-sided, Darwin-friendly inquiry, Gould (2002) essentially wheeled out a myth to accuse Eiseley of committing what he called an "etymological mistake", In reality, with the benefit of BigData technology that faciitates the ID research among over 30 million publications, we now know Eiseley was right and Gould was just being a biased baloney mongering pseudo-scholar - by way of simply making stuff up to suit his own ends. What is most disgraceful is that Darwinists - being so bone bullheadedly greedy to believe anything in their namesake's defense, swallowed Gould's bulloney without even chewing! And they continue to swallow it today.
Proper analysis of the data - as opposed to making stuff up to suit your own ends - reveals that out of over thirty million publications, the precise term 'natural selection' can be found in the literature only four times before Darwin first used it in 1858.
The first known use of the term 'natural selection' had nothing at all to do with science - the term being used by William Preston (1803) to describe how an artist would select a scene to paint. The second usage was by Darwin's fellow Royal Society member, Frances Corbaux (1829) (this use was discovered first by Professor Milton Wainwright), in a very vaguely survival of the fittest human centenarian sense. The third usage was an anonymously authored piece of 1837 to describe how a a hypothesis was chosen as the best - a 'natural selection' over others.
When asked to account for his use of the term by his publisher "John Murray", Darwin claimed he found the term "natural selection" in the literature on breeding, but could never show where. If he got it from Corbaux then he told another lie. But of that, in this case, we cannot be at all sure. To give Darwin the benefit of the doubt, we must stick to the facts. We know for a fact he used the term in his 1844 private essay. We know for a fact he said he got it from the work of breeders - so let's assume he did get it from the work of breeders. Out of 30+ million publications, which pre-1844 publication by breeders comes close to using the term 'natural selection'? Only Matthew's 1831 book, coincidentally containing the full theory of natural selection   , and - incidentally - a book on breeding trees! Matthew's is the book that Darwin's associate Chambers read and cited in 1844 and the book that his associate Selby read and cited in 1842. The dates are significant - are they not?
Although he never used the precise term, out of over 30 million publications we know that Matthew 1831 was the first to use the term: 'natural process of selection' and in 1859 Darwin was first to shuffle those same four words into 'process of natural selection'.

For the full story of all the strong evidence in favor of the Originator's, Patrick Matthew's, influence on Darwin and Wallace pre-1858 see Nullius in Verba: Darwin's greatest secret. That is my book - a book that pseudo scholarly leading Darwinists and their sheep like followers have read (I know because I am in correspondence with so many) but will not cite in their literature, because they don't want you to read it! They don't want you to read it because it absolutely proves that much of the literature - authored by them and their idols - churned out by the mighty and hugely profitable "Darwin Industry" -- is newly proven with hard and independently verifiable new data to be completely disproven claptrap!
When one leading Darwinist has the courage to abide by the motto of the Royal Society (Nullius in Verba - "On the word alone of no one") and engage fully with new hard data revealed in Nullius, only then will Darwinists thaw out from their current state of being pseudoscholarly Darwin worshiping pre-Enlightenment-like frozen asinine donkeys.

The Enlightenment

Brodie, A. (2007):
'The enlightened person accepts the word of authority not as something to which he has to say ‘yes’, but as something to which it is appropriate to subject to critical analysis. The question for the enlightened person therefore is whether the word of authority can stand up to cross-examination before the tribunal of reason. If it can then it is accepted because it is sanctioned not by authority but by reason. If on the other hand it cannot withstand the cross-examination then it has to be discarded, however exalted the source.'
